Answer: The art of tattooing is an old art form, that exist 4000 years back. The oldest known example can be seen on the body of a 4000-year-old ‘ice-man’ who was found frozen in mountain snow on the Italian-Austrian border in 1993. The Egyptians also used to tattoo each other 3000 years ago.
(ii) Where has the word ‘tattoo’ come from?
Answer: The word ‘tattoo’ comes from the Tahitian word ‘tatau’.
(iii) Why should certain parts of the body not be tattooed? Discuss. Marks 2
Answer: There are certain places you can’t get tattooed like hair, teeth, nails, and stomach. Because these parts of the body may change shape with aging. Therefore, tattooing has to be avoided in those parts of the body.
(iv) Research has shown that later people regret getting tattooed. Why ? 2
Answer: Research has shown that later people regret getting tattooed. Because, when people want it to remove, that can be a painful process and it can even leave scars. Only laser treatment can remove them completely, and this is very expensive as well.
