The primary concern of BEGLA-135 English in Daily Life is to make the learners capable of communicating fluently and accurately in the different contexts of daily life. Certain words and expressions cannot be used indiscriminately in different contexts. Some words and expressions are particularly for a certain context. This course helps you to discriminate words and expressions based on the different contexts. It has drawn examples from contemporary relevant topics like travel, health, and fitness social values, workplace, etc to understand the way how to use the language in such different contexts of social life.
Apart from that, the course uses different types of text like paragraphs, essays, conversations, letters, stories, recorded audios, speeches, and emails to understand and acquire basic skills of communication, such as listening, speaking reading, and writing. Besides, that emphasises the enhancement of vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.
BEGLA- 135 has been divided into four Blocks, and these four blocks are again categorised into different units.
Block- 01 Greetings and Goodbye.
Block- 02 The World Around Us.
Block- 03 Media and Entertainment.
Block- 04 Burning Issues.
Before we move on to the block let me say one more thing about the whole course, each unit of each block has been divided into different sections based on the skills of communication such as Listening, Speaking, Reading Writing, Grammar, Pronunciation, and Vocabulary. Each Block talks about different ways to develop these skills.

Block-01 Greetings and Goodbye.
Block 1: Greetings and Goodbye
Most of us are always confused in formal situations like meetings, speeches, discussions, and debates without having a proper idea about how to start and conclude them. This block talks about how to begin and end a conversation, how to conduct small social talk, and how to express you are feelings- likes and dislikes.
Communication is not confined to words, it can also be possible through non-verbal elements like symbols, gestures, eye contact, and posture. This block also talks about such elements as well
Block 2 The World Around Us.
This block is also connected with day-to-day life. In our day-to-day life, we have to interact with different people to satisfy our needs and wants. Apart from that, we have to share grief and happiness with other people within the family and outside the family. This block helps you to learn how to interact with your surroundings, within the family and outside the family.
It has selected materials and examples from all aspects of our lives. Therefore, it enables us to use the language based on the various situations in our lives.
The reading comprehension section, as in the earlier blocks, uses a number of passages. listening sections, they use the audio, etc. The grammar section introduces grammatical items like apostrophes, connectives or linkers, conditional clauses, and usage of “will” and “going to”. The writing section teaches you how to write a descriptive piece, writing by describing people and describing events.
On the pronunciation of the section, it teaches you how to pronounce silent letters and word syllables.
Block 03 Media and Entertainment.
This block emphasises the wide areas of social life, such as media, shopping, and entertainment, and it has selected materials and examples from those areas to enhance different skills of communication. Therefore, it helps us to know how to interact or communicate with such situations in day-to-day life without confusion.
In the reading comprehension sections, there is a number of passages, like the floating market in Thailand and news articles. The grammar section teaches you the Present Perfect Tense, the Present Perfect Continuous Tense, Passive Voice, and Phrasal Verbs. Apart from that, it also presents usages of “used to” and “would”. The pronunciation section talks about the stress and pronunciation and selected words from cooking items. The vocabulary section deals with a word map and words of laughter. The speaking skills section talks about how to prepare for an interview.
Block 04 Burning Issues.
Earlier blocks were concentrated on surroundings where we interact as a part of social life, but block four, the last block of the course, deals with how to express your ideas and views on the thing that happens in the world around you.
The reading comprehension section presents a story by Premchand, Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, etc. The grammar part pills with infinity, adjective, direct and indirect speech, main clause, and subordinate clause. To develop listening comprehension, this block uses the speech of Martin Luther King and a song, IMAGINE by John Lennon.
The pronunciation section teaches you how to pronounce the past suffix -ed.
