by The University of Calicut revised its common courses from 2022 admission onwards. Even though the university made an order to change the common course in 2021, it cannot implement it in the same year. This is the common course syllabus at present flowing in the university.
English Common Course Details.
The University of Calicut offers four English common courses for all UG students, including BA, BSc, and Commerce. First two semesters each UG student has to opt for four English papers. Now let us have a look at the outline of the course.
AIM OF THE COURSE:
This course aims to introduce the nature and types of literature to undergraduate students. This course is envisaged in such a way as to help students acquire some insights into the art of creative thinking and writing and also to assist them in approaching literature in an analytical way. This eventually leads to develop the students’ ability to understand various perspectives on life and literature. Another major purpose of the course is to familiarise the students with the English language and literature so that they can appreciate and embrace the creative side of life too.
COURSE OBJECTIVES

○ To cultivate an interest in society and culture
○ To envisage a creative approach to life and literature
COURSE OUTCOME
At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
